Dear Editor,
We claim to be one of the leading countries in space research and also sending mission to the Moon and Mars. Are we not capable of producing tanks and guns to sustain our own Army? We are dependent on foreign suppliers to meet 70 per cent need of the armed forces. Our Air Force is in shambles, Navy is looking forward to modernisation and we are yet to upgrade our guns from the last acquired Bofors in the mid-eighties. It is not that we are not capable of producing our own military infrastructure. We, in the interest of our politicians and babus, look for imports so that everyone is benefitted in a befitting manner. We are a scientifically advanced country keeping pace with NASA. What stops us from producing our own armaments and military knowhow?
