NMFDC disburses Rs. 92.50 cr among 12,046 entrepreneurs

JAMMU: Secretary, Social Welfare Department, Mohammad Shafi Rather on Wednesday inaugurated 10-day exhibition at Dussehra Grounds here.
The exhibition is organised by J and K State Women’s Development Corporation and sponsored by National Minorities Dev. and Finance Corporation (NMDFC).
Rather stressed upon the need for self-employment and empowerment of women and said that the economic empowerment is the major tool for women empowerment.
While appreciating the efforts of WDC he impressed upon the beneficiaries to take more and more advantage of schemes of the corporation and also involve other women beneficiaries of their respective blocks and districts in the activities of JKWDC.
He called upon the beneficiaries to avail soft loan facility of WDC so that the State can become fully self-reliant and socially and economically independent.
In her address, Managing Director JKWDC, Dr. Naheed Soz said that the exhibitions provide opportunity for mutual interaction between participants. The beneficiaries share their experiences and also learn from each other for better delivery mechanism, she added.
Soz informed that in this exhibition, the corporation has tried to involve as many beneficiaries from all districts and 80 women beneficiaries have been brought together to Jammu from various districts to exhibit their products through 40 different stalls. She also informed that the exhibitors have made sales worth Rs 2.50 lakh just within three days.
The MD said that the Corporation has got a National Award as on the occasion of Annual Conference organised by NMDFC on 8th October, 2014. She said that as on date Corporation has disbursed Rs. 92.50 crore amongst 12,046 beneficiaries for establishment of income generating units and 2,600 beneficiaries have been imparted training under Vocational Training Programme.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by Indira Rathore, Director, Board of Directors of the Corporation and Nasreen Khan, social activist.
