NMC seeks 6 pc DA for employees, pensioners

JAMMU: Emphasising on the need for early release of 6 per cent DA due from July last in favour of State Government employees and pensioners, President of the National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) Subash Shastri today appealed to Governor N.N Vohra to take action in this regard described it as a routine financial matter.
Addressing a meeting of NMC activists here, Shastri pointed out that there is no reason as to why the issue of pending installment of DA should not be settled so far adding that since the Centre is mulling payment of additional amounts of DA to be incorporated in the 7th Pay Commission the State Government employees and particulars pensioners will be put to a serious disadvantage. Shastri urged Vohra to release this installment out of routine budgetary grants.
While appreciating the polices and programme of the present regime, Shastri said that Vohra is always sympathetic to salaried and working classes and hoped that issue of daily wagers working in particular Departments like PWD, PHE, PDD and Irrigation and Flood Control etc with respect to non-payment of their wages for the last 3 years be resolved.
He appealed to Vohra to direct the concerned to release their all pending wages without further delay.
Setting up of National Wage Commission, issuance of notification orders for implementing Seventh Pay Commission recommendations, immediate announcement of Jammu and Srinagar City as Smart Cities, enhancing monthly wages of daily rated workers to rupees ten thousand per month besides their regularisation etc were other demands highlighted in the meeting.
Among others who also spoke on the occasion were Rajan Babu Khajuria, Sunil Kochar, Surinder Kumar, Sukhdev Singh, Karan Singh, Mohd. Shafi and Darshan Lal.
