NMC for revocation of Govt decision of freezing DA installments

JAMMU: Reiterating its earlier demand regarding revoking of decision of the Central Govt with regard of freezing of release of DA installments till June 2021 in favour of both central/states and UTs employees and pensioners, President of the National Mazdoor Conference (NMC), Subash Shastri on Sunday appealed to the Prime Minister, re-consider the decision, since the installments of the Dearness Allowance (DA) are additional supporting financial assistance to cope up the additional burden day to day rising prices of essential commodities and COVID-19 pandemic.
“Reconsideration of the earlier decision of the Central Govt. has so become in evitable, dearness relief is not wage increase its just a compensation against the erosion of real wages and the cost of living,” Shastri said this while addressing NMC workers meet here. Stressing on the need of challenges being faced by the government employees and pensioners due to ongoing COVID-19, Shastri pointed out the salaried class of the country are the fore front of battle against COVID-19, risking their safety and life are doing ordinary service to the nation by taking enormous risk adding that freezing of DA will severely impact life and living of salaried class and pensioners. He said this is the only source with them to cater the dearness needs and demanded an early release of two installments of 4 and 5% DA due from January last and July 1, 2020 to both central/ States and UTs employees and pensioners, so that employees and pensioners would get sigh of relief from price index.
Shastri and others NMC activists hope that the Central Govt shall release these two pending installments dearness allowance in upcoming union cabinet meeting so that employees and pensioners would celebrate upcoming festivals of Christmas & New Year with fervor and enthusiasm.
