JAMMU: Outstation students of NIT Srinagar on Friday launched a comprehensive exercise to gather feedback of the students on whether to return to the campus ahead of resumption of classes or to stay put in New Delhi to carry forward their fight till all their genuine demands are met by the HRD Ministry.
Meanwhile, preparations are underway to ensure success of the day long Dharna on April 24 at Jantar Mantar.
The student group has changed the schedule from April 23 to April 24 to organise the Dharna in a better way and pooling all resources at their command to highlight their grievances in the national capital.
Ever since NIT Srinagar students are camping in New Delhi and sitting on hunger  strike they are receiving support of various engineering and other educational institutions but as regards their fight against the college authorities and pressuring the MHRD to concede their demands no major headway has been achieved.
According to official sources the NIT authorities have now decided to resume the class work from April 25 and have appealed to the students to resume their classes but in response the outstation students have not yet decided on their future course of action.
To gauge the mood of the outstation students an online survey has been launched to gather the feedback from the students and know exactly where they can take their ongoing agitation to fulfill the common interests of the students.
In Jammu as well large number of NIT students Friday staged peaceful protests in support of their demands and in solidarity with the students braving the blazing sun at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi.
The parents of majority of NIT students are a confused lot as they are not feeling safe and secure while sending their children to Srinagar especially in the wake of prevailing law and order situation on ground zero. The state and the centre too has failed to instill confidence among the parents and convince them to send back their children to the campus to undertake their studies and start afresh.
