Nirmal pays tributes on National Police Day

JAMMU: “We should always remember our brave soldiers who laid down their lives to uphold the sovereignty and integrity of our motherland and it is because of their supreme sacrifices that our borders are secure , law and order is maintained 24×7 while peace and tranquility prevails in our lives.”
Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Nirmal Singh said this while speaking at a programme organised on National Police Day by Jammu and Kashmir Police at Gulshan Ground on Friday.
Vice Chairman Kissan Adsvisory Board, D.S Chib was also present on the occasion.
The Deputy Chief Minister also met the family members of soldiers and listened to their problems and gave directions to the concerned for expeditious redressal of their concerns.
While speaking on the occasion Danish Rana, IGP Jammu Zone paid rich tributes to all those martyrs who laid down their lives for unity and integrity of our nation in different parts of the country.
The names of the martyrs from all police organisations and PMF like BSF, CRPF, ITBP, CISF, SSB and NSG were read out. He said that the journey to Hot Springs in Ladakh is a pilgrimage for every policeman in the country.
“For DySP Karam Singh and his twenty dedicated compatriots of CRPF patrolling the Indian Territory at the Hot Springs in Ladakh at a souring height of 4,681 meters above the sea level, while guarding the integrity and territory of motherland, 10 gallant CRPF personnel laid down their precious lives while repulsing the Chinese attack at Hot Springs, Ladakh on 21stOctober, 1959. To pay homage to these Martyrs, 21st October is commemorated as Martyr’s Day by the Police all over the India,” he narrated.
He read out the list of 473 brave martyrs of the country and paid rich tributes to them followed by laying of wreaths at Martyrs Memorial.
Later, IGP Jammu Zone interacted with NoK of martyrs. He paid a patient hearing to the grievances of NoKs of martyrs and assured full support and timely action on the requests submitted by them.
Earlier all the Jammu based GOs assembled at Police Martyrs Memorial at Railway Station and paid rich tributes to martyrs. A blood donation camp was also organised after the Commemoration Day Parade in which all senior officers and other volunteers including the Jammu Team donated blood. A function was conducted again in the evening at Police Martyrs Memorial Railway Station, Jammu where a large number of police /civil families assembled to light candles and paid rich tributes to the Martyrs of the Nation.
Remembering the martyrs on the occasion of Police Commemoration Day, J and K Pradesh Congress Committee paid rich tributes to all those police and security personnel who sacrificed their lives to safeguard the unity and integrity of the State and nation and to ensure the safety and security of common citizen in the State. The entire nation salutes their bravery and dedication and the contribution of their families to the cause of the nation, said JKPCC Chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma on behalf of the entire rank and file of the party in the State.
Meanwhile, Police Commemoration Day was also observed in all districts of the Valley.
In Anantnag the Commemoration Day was observed at district police lines Anantnag. DIG SKR Ghulam Hassan Bhat, DIG CRPF Mohsen Shahedi, SSP Anantnag Zubair Ahmad Khan, CO CRPF 40 BN Rajnesh Ahalwat and other officers and Jawans of Police and CRPF attended the function.
In Pulwama the commemoration day was observed at district police lines Pulwama. SSP Pulwama Rayees Mohammad Bhat read out all the names of Martyrs who sacrificed their lives.
In Kargil the commemoration day was observed at District Police Lines Kargil to recall the sacrifices made by the brave police personnel. SP Kargil, Rahul Malik read out the names of all martyrs, who laid down their lives. On the occasion CEC LAHDC Kargil, Kacho Ahmad Ali Khan, Dy. Commissioner Kargil, Gulzar Hussain, Addl SP Kargil and other police officers and senior citizens were present on the occasion.
The commemoration day was also observed in Shopian, Ganderbal, Kupwara, Awantipora, Handwara, Bandipora Budgam and Leh.
