JAMMU: Police on Wednesday seized nine JCBs and 15 Tractor and Trollies that were illegally extracting minerals near Nikki Tawi Bridge.
According to report, SHO Satwari under the direction of SSP Jammu Sunil Gupta launched a joint operation along with Executive Magistrate Majid Hussain Naib Tehsildar Satwari and seized the aforesaid utility vehicles. A case vide FIR No 160/2016 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Satwari. The operation was supervised by SDPO South Sachin Gupta and SP South Shahzad Salaria along with SDM South Sonu Pargal.
Meanwhile, taking serious note on reports of large scale extraction of sand and Bajri near Nikki Tawi Bridge at Phallian Mandal posing risk to the aforesaid bridge and other structures at different locations, District Magistrate Simrandeep Singh on Wednesday banned all sort of extraction of minor minerals from rivers within one kilometer of all such bridges and structures.
