NILM starts awareness drive on traffic rules

JAMMU: National Incredible Literacy Mission (NILM), a Non Government Organisation, on Sunday started a mass traffic awareness drive on traffic rules.
NILM took up the challenge to reduce the number of road accidents by starting an accident awareness drive in Jammu city for three days. Awareness drive was conducted in the supervision of Thakur K.D Kurhan, Chairman NILM (NGO).
Speaking to media persons, Rakeshwar Singh, Project Director NILM, Jammu said, “Our NGO is making all efforts for the welfare of general public, the motive behind traffic awareness drive is to check and control road accidents which occur due to negligence and are increasing day by day.” He further added, “Traffic Police is not the only solution to control these accidents, we must follow traffic rules which are life savers.”
Sarla Sadhu, Joint Secretary NILM said that this awareness drive is organised in collaboration of Jammu and Kashmir Police and Mini Bus Operators Association in Jammu city and has covered maximum area of the city. Chairman NILM informed the media that more than 2,100 persons were educated by their NGO workers in different parts of Jammu city over traffic rules. Vishal Sharma, Deputy Secretary NILM informed that they are receiving a positive response from the general public. NGO officials who were engaged in the traffic awareness campaign
included Bansi Lal AO, Sunny Kapahi SDO, Preeti Bajaj SDO, Naresh Kumar Field Assistant, besides volunteers including Akash Gupta, Rahul and Vansh.
