Night Club Salwah wins Volleyball title

MENDHAR: Night Volleyball Club Salwah defeated Mendher Volleyball Club by 3-2 sets in the final and lifted the trophy of Volleyball Tournament organised by 6th Battalion of Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police under Civic Action Programme, which concluded here at Bhera on Friday. In this tournament eight teams of nearby villages of Mendhar took part. The matches in the tournament were officiated by the technical panel comprising Ajay Koul and Sanjeev Bali. In the closing ceremony Commandant JKAP 6th Bn, Parshotam Sharma was the Chief Guest who gave away prizes to winner and runner-up teams. The winner team received a cash prize of Rs 16,000 while runner-up team got Rs 8,000. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest advised the players to maintain their physical fitness. He said that sports provides a greater career prospect in the present times besides building mental and physical capabilities. He also said that sports help in channeling the talent and energy of the youth and JKP has been playing a vital role in the promotion of sports culture in the State.
