JAMMU: A meeting of Joint Action Committee of erstwhile victims of Rajouri, Poonch and Doda-Ramban was held under the leadership of its Chairman Mohammad Ayub Choudhary.
The meeting discussed the issues of poor families of village Peeda Panchayat Halqa Sawni, Tehsil and District Ramban who have been allegedly victimized by the revenue officials and sub-contractors of M/s Gammon India Private Limited for the construction of four-way NH from Ramban to Srinagar.
Mohammad Ayub said that the revenue officials of Tehsil Ramban have cheated the poor farmers of village Peeda by changing the revenue records in connivance with the land mafia in order to claim the compensation and diverting the Malba dumping places to a nearby Nallah, the water body used as source of water by the locals.
He sought Revenue Minister’s intervention to rectify the issue and ensure compensation to rightful owners besides taking action against erring sub-contractors of Gammon Company and clearing off the Nallah site and other water bodies used as dumping ground, before the onset of monsoon.
