JAMMU: Non-Gazetted Police Pensioners Welfare Forum (NGPPWF) members on Saturday held a protest in support of their demands.
Led by Ajit Singh, Chairman of the Forum, the members assembled here and started protest amidts slogans in support of their demands.
The workers were strongly opposing Govt order No. 229-F of 2014 of dated October 17, 2014 regarding pay anomalies. They said the effect should have been given from 1996 when Fifth Pay Commission was implemented throughout the State but only J and K Police Department was left out. Some of them have expired but the surviving strugglers should get the benefit. They pointed out that various Pay Anomaly Committees have been formed and they have given their opinions and approvals from time to time but no desired progress was witnessed in this regard. They also demanded cashless health care policy for the retired police personnel on the pattern of Military and Para-Military Forces. They also demanded 15 per cent quota for their wards in police and professional courses.
The association leader also demanded that at least Rs 50 thousand should be sanctioned at the time of death of retired police personnel for performing last rites of the deceased.
