Moga: A ‘non-political’ group was formed today against the Moga molestation incident, where a teenage girl was allegedly molested and thrown out of a moving bus.

The group constitutes Bharti Kisan Union (BKU Ekta) and BKU (Ugrahan), Punjab Khet Majdoor Union and Punjab Naujawan Sabha.

The group asserted that their fight will continue till owners of Orbit bus, in which the crime was committed, are booked by police.

We will stage protest marches and burn effigies of Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal at different places in the state, BKU (E) General Secretary Sukhdev Singh said.

Dharnas will be organised in front of Baghapurana police station in a “peaceful manner” on May 9 and 10, he said, adding that protests will also be held in areas of Majha and Malwa of the state.

A woman and her teen-aged daughter were allegedly molested and thrown off a running bus, leaving the girl dead and mother seriously wounded, near Gill village on Moga-Kotkapura road on April 30.

The bus belongs to Orbit Aviation, the company owned by relatives of Punjab chief minister.

The bus service has since been put off roads as the incident witnessed widespread criticism by the political class.
