RAFIABAD: Former Minister Abdul Gani Vakil on Sunday expressed anguish over the announcement of J&K State’s inclusion in NEET and said that this move is not in favour of State especially the youth and it seems to be another move of indirect fiddle with Article 370. He said that the move ‘was a well planned attempt to dilute the special status of the State’ which will be sternly dealt by the people of the State. People of the State are well aware of the intentions of the central government headed by BJP in this regard but no stone will be left unturned in defending the Article 370. Vakil also criticised the government’s delayed response to the issue and said that Government should have pre-empted the situation. He stressed upon the Government to come clear on the issue. “If they have the will, they can very well scuttle it. After all, no law or Act can apply to J&K if the State does not adopt it as per our own Constitution. Vakil reminded BJP of accession of J&K with Union of India which is only dependent on Article 370 and it has become a vital bridge between India and J&K. Any direct or indirect move to fiddle with Article 370 will be sternly dealt. He said that some forces, who are thinking of weakening or eroding this article, are inimical to peace and tranquility in the State. Vakil was addressing the workers convention at Rafiabad.
While addressing the gathering, Vakil expressed grave concern over neglect of fruit industry in Kashmir valley. He said every Government has failed to address the concerns of fruit growers. He said that this important sector is clearly a victim of ignorance and negligence of the successive governments. He urged the chief minister to take immediate steps to save this vital industry which provides livelihood to lakhs of people directly or indirectly.
