Need based workers, casual labourers strike enters 16th day

RAJOURI: A protest of casual labourers/need based workers of PWD (R&B) Department was held under the banner of PWD (R&B) Casual/Need Based Workers Union Rajouri raising their demands in one voice regarding creation of a special deal for the purpose of paying regular wages, release of pending wages , formulation of a concrete policy for regularisation of services of casual labourers / need based workers / ITI trained workers in the department who have given precious years of their life to the department.
They have focused the attention of Jammu and Kashmir Government towards the burning demand of poor casual labourers/need based workers / ITI trained workers of PWD who have been working since 1994 and suffering badly due to absence of
any concrete policy of the government.
Hundreds of casual labourers assembled in PWD (R&B) Complex Rajouri and raised slogans in support of their demands.
While addressing the rally, the union President Mohammed Riaz Mughal condemned the delaying policy of the J and K Government regarding the genuine issues of casual labourers/ need based/ITI trained workers working in PWD (R&B) Department as per the agreement of the government with Union Leader at State Level.
He also apprised the government regarding the policy framed by previous government on 9th October 2014, for regularisation of services of casual labourers / need based workers, but in-spite of lapse of eight months time there is no considerable progress in this regard which force the cadre to go on an indefinite strike.
Mughal threatened the Govt. for a mass agitation in case the Govt does not agree to fulfill their long pending demands
Others activists who address the rally -Vice President Abdul Kaleem Bhatti, General Secretary Shaheen Bhatt, Speaker Sonika Sharma, Advisor Murtaza Anjum Mir, Convener Riaz Ahmed Dar, Cashier Akhilesh Mehta , Office Bearer Vikas Sharma and other Block Presidents, Mohd Shabir Manhas, Mohd Rafiq Choudhary, Mushtaq Ahmed, Kafeel Ahmed, Anoop Sharma, Ajeet Sharma and Shokit Ahmed.
