NCURDS organises teacher orientation programme

JAMMU: National Council for Urban and Rural Development Society Jammu (NCURDS) on Monday organised teachers orientation programme of National Children Science Congress at Government Girls Higher Secondary School Shastri Nagar Jammu. The program is catalyzed and supported by National Council for Science and Technological Communication (NCSTC), Department of Science and Technology, GoI and was presided over by Farida Javed Principal GGHSS Shastri Nagar whereas Dr. Ashaq Hussain, Professor Government Degree College Kishtwar (Resource Person) were the Guest of Honor.
State Academic Coordinator, Kuldeep Gupta highlighted the need of science and scientific temperament in the present time among students, teachers and hence the common masses. He also briefed the guide teachers about the concept of NCSC.
Dr. Ashiq Hussain said that National Children Science Congress is targeted to spread the concept of the method of science among the children through their project activities adopting the principle of ‘Learning through doing ‘across India since 1993 where the children are expected to carry out projects related to the focal theme and the identified sub-themes in which the students in the age group of 10-17 are expected to participate.
During the programme, about 90 teachers a drawn from different schools of District Jammu and District Coordinators and Academic Coordinators were given first hand orientation of the focal theme for the 2015, Understanding Weather and Climate with six different sub-themes.
