NCB Jammu arrests two narcotics smugglers

JAMMU: The sleuths of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Jammu have seized over 3000 Alprazolam Tablets, 14106 Spasmo Proxyvon Plus (Tramadol) Capsules, 221 Bottles of Codeine based Cough Syrup (100 ml each) and Approx 5 Litres of Codeine based Cough syrup in water bottles from Near Zamindara Dhaba, Ring Road, Samba, J&K from the possession two narco smugglers Mohd Abbas Bhat, son of Nazir Ahmad Bhat, resident o0f Noorpora, Pulwama and Zahoor Ahmad Shah, son of Takeya, Ghulab Bagh, Pulwama.
Accordingly, FIR under the relevant provisions of NDPS Act 1985 has been registered vide NCB Jammu Crime number 15/2024 and both the accused persons have been arrested by NCB Jammu Zonal Unit. They were traveling from New Delhi to Anantnag. Further investigation is going on in this case.
Yesterday, a team of NCB Jammu along with Police Outpost Sidhra under Polcie Station Nagrota conducted a house search of a habitual offender Mohd Abbas, son of Masum Ali, resident of Sidhra, Jammu, booked under FIR 275/13 PS Nagrota and FIR 36/19 PS Phillaur Punjab.
During the search operation, 9mm bullet and 03 other bullets were recovered from the house of said accused. Accordingly, a Panchnama has been drawn and case was transferred to concerned Police Station for lodging an FIR under the Arms Act against the said accused. On the spot inquiry, it came in light that he had been residing without any legal/valid documents.
In the wake of upcoming Legislative Assembly elections, NCB has geared up its preparation to tackle the drug menace and its possible misuse in the election scenario. Being the national nodal agency for drug law enforcement, it has committed itself to stop the supply of drugs in the region.
