NC will stand like rock to safeguard JK’s special status

RAJOURI : State Vice President National Conference Rattan Lal Gupta on Monday decried the attempts of BJP to weaken Article 370, saying his party would stand like a rock to defend this constitutional provision that grants Jammu and Kashmir special status in the Indian Union.
Addressing an election meeting at Manjakote in favour of National Conference candidate Mirza Abdul Rashid, the Vice President referring to the machinations of various political forces to erode this special position said that National Conference has always stood like a rock to safeguard the interests of the people.
“They always considered Sher-e-Kashmir’s great movement as a stumbling block in their nefarious designs and continued to work against it under different guises”, he said this while giving a vivid account of how miserably the opponents failed to weaken the resolve of people, who stood by the side of the towering leader Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah. He said these elements are still active, though in different manifestations, and working towards achieving their evil designs. The biggest worry to these dejected and rejected politicians is the strong base of National Conference that has never shown any cracks, he maintained.
Speaking on the occasion, the party candidate Mirza Abdul Rashid reiterated his resolve to focus on faster development of Rajouri with thrust on utility services and welfare measures.
Prominent among those present in the meeting included Bashir Ahmed wani District President Rajouri , Shafayat Khan District Sec, Showkat Mir, Mohd Farooq , Tasdaq Hussian , Magrey and Haji Ayub.
