RAMBAN: National Conference District President Ramban Sajjad Shaheen sought a high level probe into the alleged embezzlement of funds under Constituency Development Fund (CDF) allocated to Member Legislative Assembly Banihal over the years.
In a statement, Shaheen said the people have been complaining that funds have been withdrawn for certain works purportedly having been undertaken by the Agriculture Department in Ramban District under soil conservation sector but actually no work exist on ground. He said that only an independent probe and special audit can reveal the truth with regard to alleged connivance between officials and the politicians. “The nexus will have to be exposed to restore the faith of the people in the administration”, he maintained.
Shaheen also complained about nexus at various levels in Rural Development, Social Welfare, Public Works and Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Departments saying that the facts are needed to be made public by the probe panel to be set up for the purpose.
The District President, while interacted with a cross section of people, during his extensive visit of the district assured that the issue will be taken up at appropriate levels so that the actual works undertaken under the Constituency Development Fund in the district are examined and justice delivered to the people, who have been denied their due in terms of development in their areas.
