NC has perennial bond of amity in three regions: Omar
STATE TIMES NEWS
SRINAGAR: Chief Minister and National Conference Working President Omar Abdullah on Tuesday said his party has a perennial bond of amity and mutual trust in the three regions of the State.
“No political party has demonstrated a greater and more equitable political will to usher Ladakh region into an era of prosperity, connectivity and progress as much as National Conference,” Omar said at a series of election meetings in Nubra Assembly Constituency.
Omar highlighted the work done by his government in the region in the last six years.
“It was Sheikh (Mohammad Abdullah) Sahib who ensured fair representation of Ladakh in his first popular government by inducting Kushak Bakula Rinpochee as Minister for Ladakh Affairs,” he said.
Omar said the concept of ‘Ladakh Affairs’ has been envisioned by NC to ensure equitable development in the region.
“It has always been our endeavour to ensure a greater connectivity and an increased level of governance in the most remote areas of Ladakh region and we have achieved historic success in this mission in the last six years,” he said.
Omar said the National Conference-led Government had brought more connectivity to the region and brought the administration closer to the people by the creation of New Administrative Units. “There are politicians who are coming to this region today to ask for your votes. You should ask these political parties and their leaders what they have done for the people of this region apart from issuing press notes and giving speeches. “While BJP is trying to have three different stands on a single issue in three regions of the State, Congress on the other hand has converged all its focus on not making their candidates win but in opposing National Conference in the region,” he said. Omar said communal harmony and regional cooperation formed the basis of NC’s political vision and the party had given numerous sacrifices to protect these values.
“We have to stick together and breach new frontiers of development and progress and be assets for each other. Those who are trying to fragment us and divide us for their own political interests are enemies of this state and its future generation,” he said. (PTI)
