SAMBA: National Conference OBC Cell Jammu on Monday expressed concern over meager availability of rations under National Food Security Act in Jammu and Kashmir and sought its immediate rollback in view of difficulties faced by the consumers.
Addressing workers at Meen in Samba District, the Co-Chairman OBC Cell Abdul Gani Teli criticised the PDP-BJP alliance for thrusting this Act on the State which had been refused to be implemented by the National Conference led government as its enforcement meant deprivation of vast chunk of population.
Teli blamed the PDP-BJP alliance for taking anti-poor and anti-people measures, as they had no constructive programme for the welfare and development of the State. He said the record of the previous spell of the coalition government has been quite dismal during ten nightmarish months and added that it failed on all fronts.
The Co-Chairman of the OBC Cell said developmental inertia in the State especially in the far-flung areas speaks volumes about the PDP-BJP alliance.
He also lashed out at the coalition for neglecting the aspirations of the unemployed youth and weaker sections of the society and said perpetual delays in releasing timely wages to different categories of workers besides failure to provide financial assistance to categorized segments of the population had resulted in unimaginable miseries and an overall atmosphere of vulnerability and penury.
Responding to the issues raised by weaker sections, Teli said these will be taken up at appropriate level for early redressal.
Those who spoke on the occasion included Swaran Singh Sarpanch, Sunil Mehra, Ghulam Rasool Sarpanch, Sain Dass and Shahid Mohammed.
They listed the problems faced by the weaker sections and other backward classes and criticized PDP-BJP for ignoring these segments.
