JAMMU: National Conference State Vice President Rattan Lal Gupta on Tuesday lauded the major initiative taken by the Jammu and Kashmir Opposition, led by former Chief Minister and the party Working President Omar Abdullah in seeking solution to political dimensions of the Kashmir problem.
“Realisation seems to be dawning on the highest political leadership in the country which is reflected by the admission of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi about problems confronted in Jammu and Kashmir not being just developmental or economical”, Gupta said that this vindicates the stand of the National Conference leadership, especially Omar Abdullah, who has been vehemently pressing for solving the issues politically.
Gupta said that time has come when the Centre must open up the channels of dialogue with all the stake-holders to find out ways and means to steer the State to peace and normalcy. He expressed concern over loss of life and injuries to thousands and demanded immediate end to the use of pellet guns in the Valley. He said the dialogue process will help in culling down tempers, which will result in safety of the people.
The State Vice President, meanwhile, assailed the PDP-BJP Government in Jammu and Kashmir for failing on all fronts, saying that due to administrative inexperience and naivety the Kashmir unrest was not handled sagaciously.
