NC initiates process for JMC elections

JAMMU: Former Minister and Chairman SC/OBC Cell of National Conference Jammu Babu Ram Pal on Tuesday said the party is gearing up in a big way at the grass root level for the proposed elections to Jammu Municipal Corporation and other Urban Local Bodies institutions.
The cadre especially the youth is keenly waiting for the big democratic exercise and every effort would be made to field public spirited and dedicated candidates, who can meet the urges and aspirations of the people with courage and fortitude, Ram Pal said while addressing the first meeting of the panel set up to identify candidates for election in various wards of the Municipal corporation, held at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhawan.
Babu Ram Pal, who is heading the seven member panel, lauded enthusiasm among youth and women, saying this rekindles hope of having a dedicated team of corporators in the Corporation. He hoped massive participation of people and their unflinching support to National Conference that has a track record of public service.
The other members who participated in the meeting included State Vice President Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial Vice President Jugal Mahajan, Provincial Secretary Sheikh Bashir Ahmed, Dharamveer Singh Jamwal District President Jammu Urban.
The members of the panel highlighted the crucial significance of Urban Local Bodies elections and gave suggestions to ward level panels in place to identify dedicated candidates. They exuded confidence about massive win for National Conference in these elections.
