National Voters Day preparations reviewed

KATHUA: In view of upcoming National Voters Day on 25th January, 2014, Assistant Commissioner Anshul Garg (IAS Probationer) convened a meeting of officers to discuss the preparedness for the national event here at Kathua.
Discussion was held on the need and importance of National Voters Day and creating awareness among the masses.
Assistant Commissioner directed the Sub Divisional Magistrates, Tehsildars and Block Development Officers to convene meetings with Panchs, Sarpanchs, Chowkidar, Lambardars, ASHA and Angadwadi workers of all the Panchayats alongwith booth level officers to mark the Voters Day by organizing rallies, symposium and distribution of EPIC cards of the newly registered voters at Panchayats and booth level. Assistant Commissioner impressed upon the officers the need to adopt innovative mediums to sensitize the masses about their right to vote and its importance in the election process.
The CEO Kathua was directed to involve school/college students in creating awareness regarding the importance of right to franchise besides continuous updation of electoral rolls i.e. addition/deletion was also stressed. He said that best performing BLO’s of the recent assembly elections will be awarded on National Voters Day at district and sub Division level besides awards to best polling booth area teams. RO’s and ARO’s will nominate the best performing BLO’s of their constituency.
