National Rafting Championship from March 10

UDHAMPUR: To promote adventure sports in remote areas of the State, Tourism Department, Jammu and Kashmir, is organising a three-day Chenab Challenge-River Rafting Championship-2016 from 10th to 12th March 2016 at Baradari, Reasi.
“Eleven teams are participating in the event which includes a sixteen-member Indian Army rafting team and two local teams from Reasi,” Defence Spokesperson, Ministry of Defence, S.D Goswami said.
Havildar Yogesh KN of Indian Army team, who has internationally represented India in World Rafting Championship, Indo – Australian Joint expedition and has won multiple accolades, appreciated the initiative taken by Tourism Department for organising this national level sport. He is looking forward to participate in the event.
Besides two army adventure teams and air force team, BSF, ITBP, JKP, two locals teams from Reasi, one team each from Directorate of Tourism, Jammu region and Kashmir region and a women team from Ladakh will participate in the championship, PRO Defence informed.
