National Panthers Student Union seeks white paper on fund utilisation by Red Cross Society

JAMMU: Activists of National Panthers Student Union (NPSU), led by State President Thakur Virender Singh, held a protest in the premises of University of Jammu on Tuesday against the non-utilisation of funds by the Red Cross Society (RCS).
Virender disclosed that a nominal amount is curtailed from the admission fees of the students from all across the schools and colleges as a contributory fund in the Red Cross Society adding that the society has not been utilising the funds for the human welfare.
He sought a white paper from Red Cross Society for the accountability and transparency of funds.
Virender further disclosed that Red Cross Society has also received funds for the flood affected people from the Central Government but there is no sign visible on the ground as far as utilisation of funds and rehabilitation of flood victims are concerned.
He said that the Red Cross Society is run by the retired education officers and the apathetic attitude of these officials has ignored the entire district executive committee leading to complete chaos and confusion.
A senior NPSU leader, Love Deep Singh Mankotia revealed that the ambulances of the Red Cross Society are used as load carriers and for personal use by the officials of the society.
NPSU demanded immediate removal of District Secretary of Red Cross Society as he has been holding the chair unconstitutionally for the last ten years.
Others who were present in the protest included Lovely Singh, Bhupinder Singh, Admit Charak, Shubam Jasrotia, Sumit,Nitin, Mohan Singh, Roopesh Singh and Nika.
