National LoK Adalat settles 1,16,423 cases

JAMMU: In connection with National Lok Adalat held on 6th December 2014, Lok Adalats were held throughout the State of J and K at High Court, District and Tehsil level under the patronage of Justice M.M Kumar, Chief Justice, High Court of J and K and Patron-in-Chief J and K State Legal Services Authority and guidance of Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir, Judge, High Court of J and K and Executive Chairman J and K State Legal Services Authority.
A total of 1,16,423 cases of different nature like MACT, civil suits, criminal compoundable cases, bank cases, petty criminal matters, disaster cases, consumer court cases, electricity and water bills, food adulteration cases, forest cases, gambling act cases, cases under guardian act and Hindu Marriage Act, Land Acquisition cases, MNREGA cases, municipal cases, industrial tribunal/Labour Law cases, and other miscellaneous cases, etc. were disposed-off by amicable settlement in the Lok Adalats on 6th December, 2014.
An amount of Rs.20,07,30,586 was awarded in MACT cases, amount of Rs.58,09,57,675 was recovered in bank cases, amount of Rs.9,62,49,181 was realised as fine in Petty Criminal matters/summary case, amount of Rs. 4,33,28,613 was given compensation in land acquisition cases, amount of Rs. 4,94,99,357 was given compensation in MNREGA cases, amount of Rs. 75,000 cases was given in the pension cases, amount of Rs. 6,33,60,000 was given compensation in disaster cases and amount of Rs. 11,47,292 was awarded in maintenance cases.
