National Highway becomes death trap for road users

KISHTWAR: Kishtwar is called the land of Saffron and Sapphire but nowadays Kishtwar and its inter link roads have become death trap for the travellers due to its worst condition. The National Highway (NH1B) which connects Kishtwar with the rest of State as well as country, is in worst condition for plying of vehicles.
Due to bad condition of NHW, many precious lives were lost in the fatal road accidents.
The roads including Batote- Kishtwar, Kishtwar-Nagseni, Kishtwar- Padder, Kishtwar -Bhanderkote Road are in very bad condition as the concerned agencies (GREF and R&B) have failed in maintenance and restoring these roads.
Many times passengers remove slides ,stones on their own to reach their destinations as concerned department/ agencies failed to maintain these routes in proper manner for vehicular movement.
“It is a matter of great concern that no one takes any heed towards our problem regarding worst road condition ,due to which we have to suffer a lot,”said Subash Chander of Nagseni adding the work from Kishtwar to Padder should also be handed over to any private agency as the GREF has failed to take proper maintanace of the road. Randeep Bhandari said that the work of Batote-Kishtwar Highway should be handed over to the private company like AFCON or L&T, So that they work properly on the road to make it suitable for travelling.
Meanwhile general public of Kishtwar requested Central Government and Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to look into the matter and handover the maintanance work of Kishtwar-Batote NH to any private company for its betterment, so that people residing in these two Distts (Doda and Kishtwar) can take a sign of relief.
