JAMMU: National Cancer Awareness Day-an initiative that aims to raise awareness about the growing cancer burden in the country and inspire action towards prevention, early detection, and treatment
National Cancer Awareness Day was observed at JKPS Panjtirthi.
Pooja Sharma, the Incharge of the Day, commenced the celebration and revealed, “India is the first country in the world to officially recognize National Cancer Awareness Day. The date was chosen not only to honor the birth of Nobel Laureate Madame Marie Curie, who discovered radioactivity and whose work has had a profound impact on cancer treatment but also to reflect India’s commitment to addressing cancer as a public health priority.”
Through speech and recitations jakiians conveyed that, “Our Nation is experiencing a rapid rise in cancer cases, largely due to lifestyle changes, tobacco use, poor dietary habits, and inadequate physical activity. “
Jakiians presented a skit to highlight that, “various types of cancer are preventable because of widespread awareness and timely interventions.
A group song was presented by jakiians with the message, “Together, we can provide hope and help to those in need, making the world a better place for everyone.”
The Principal of JKPS Panjtirthi, Suman Banbah addressed the Jakiians and expressed, “National Cancer Awareness Day is a day to unite, educate, and empower individuals to take care of their health and support those affected by cancer. we can collectively contribute to a world where cancer is detected early and treated effectively.”
She added, “In our pursuit to eradicate cancer, let us remember that even small initiatives and acts of kindness can have a monumental impact on the lives of those battling this relentless disease.”
The Principal asked few questions to the Jakiians regarding the deadly disease and the winners were awarded with beautiful gifts.
