Dear Editor,
As a nation, we lack discipline and speak irresponsibly in the name of freedom of expression. Else, how can people like Sanjay Nirupam and Kejriwal make such damaging and insensitive statements, doubting the strikes against Pakistan? Actor Om Puri has insulted Uri martyrs by commenting ‘Who had asked soldiers to join the Army?’ Salman Khan and some other celebrities shoot their mouth off in support of Pakistan artistes while the pyres of our soldiers burn. It is time we all learn to speak in one voice when it comes to national interest and the honour of our soldiers. Personal and political interests must be relegated, and like Israel, we must stand solid as a nation. All this calls for a high degree of nationalism and self-discipline. Let the media also not be an arena for venting personal agendas by people who talk first, think later. Today, we need to say ‘Jai Hind’ in unison, as we salute our soldiers.
