Narwal fire case: Court directs SHO to investigate matter against six persons

JAMMU: City Judge Jammu M.S Manhas after going through the complaint filed by Mohd Illayas and three others in recent fire incident at Narwal in which four persons lost their life, directed SHO Bahu Fort Jammu to investigate the matter in terms of 156 (3) CrPC.
The petitioners have approached the court for registration of FIR against six persons alleging that police had not done anything on their complaint.
According to the complaint applicants are refugees of Myanmar (Burma), living along with eighty other families in Jhuggis at Narwal Bala since years and were paying rent to their landlord. “The landlord had given copies of identity cards and information of refugee tenants to the police station at the time of giving them space for constructing Jhuggis in his plot”, the complaint reads adding that Liaqat Ali and Mohammad Sadiq, sons of Firoz Din, Sajjad Ahmed alias Sonu, son of Mohammad Sadiq, Shaqil Ahmed alias Monu, son of Mohammad Sadiq, Abdul Rashid, son of Firoz Din and Faryad Khan, son of Mohammad Sain, all residents of the same area were having some dispute of land with their landlord and they used to threaten that they will burn their Jhuggis in order to vacate the land.
The complaint further alleged that many refugees living in above said plot were beaten mercilessly by these persons and their hired goons. Some of these refugees even left the area after they were brutally beaten up by accused persons and FIR in this regard was also lodged with the concerned police station, the complaint added.
The complaint also alleged that few of these are history sheeter and are involved in several crimes.
The complaint further stated that on Saturday night around sixty Jhuggis of around eighty families were burnt to ashes and four innocent persons were charred to death. Names of the deceased persons are Noor Akhter, wife of Mohammad Salim, Rozina Akhtar, daughter of Mohammad Salim, Somaya Akhtar, daughter of Mohommad Salim and Jasmin Ara, daughter of Abdul Shaqoor.
The complaint also alleged that aforementioned accused are influential and some of them even have their relatives employed in police department therefore despite reporting the matter to police nothing was done to probe the case.
