Narco-terrorism biggest challenge: Team Jammu

SAMBA: Intensifying its campaign to liberate youth of Jammu from the yoke of drug abuse, Team Jammu on Sunday sought support of the residents of entire Samba district to take this fight to the logical conclusion to save the younger generation.
“It is fact that Samba has always played a dominant role in all historical agitations launched in Jammu region from time to time to restore dignity and honour of the people”, said Zorawar Singh Jamwal, chairman of the Team Jammu, while addressing a gathering on the conclusion of the anti-drug rally at Veer Bhoomi here this afternoon.
Today’s was the fourth successive rally being organized by Team Jammu against menace of drug abuse. Earlier similar rallies were organized at Jammu, Rajouri and Reasi (Katra) districts. “Every day we are getting shocking information about deaths of youth from different parts of Jammu region”, Zorawar said and disclosed that helpless parents are approaching Team Jammu to save their wards from this menace.
Pointing towards recovery of drugs worth Rs 10 crore from International Border (IB) two days back, Jamwal said this recovery has substantiated that international mafia is operating in supplying drugs in Jammu. He dubbed drug mafia operation in Jammu as narco-terrorism and pointed out that after failing to spoiling younger generation through guns, now attempts are being made to indulge our generation in narco-terrorism.
He regretted that none of the political group has taken this issue seriously. “We want to give a message to those who are ignoring genuine issues that gone are the days when people were befooled by emotive issues now youth of Jammu region has decided to take up those issues which are affecting all sections of the society”, he said and asked elected representatives of Jammu to take up this issue in the forthcoming budget session of the Assembly.
Vijay Singh Sambyal, retired DIG, J&K Police and District Bar Association, President, Advocate Subash Singh Sambyal said that drug mafia is part of nexus between drug lords and terror groups. Number of youth leaders of Samba district including Vikesh Amba, Member Samba Social Club, Raizy Singh (educationist) and Rahul Sambyal, Youth For Society and Avinash Chowdhary, Member Shaheed Captain Bahadur Singh (Veer Chakra), Samiti, Chack Salarian sought support of the people to intensify this fight.
Earlier, the anti-drug rally was flagged off by number of prominent citizens of Samba including DIG (Retd) Vijay Singh Sambyal, Captain Inder Singh, Colonel Karan Singh and Advocate Subash Singh Sambyal.
