Narco smuggler on bail arrested with fake currency

JAMMU: A notorious narcotics smuggler, roaming in Jammu City in a luxury car, was arrested on Monday afternoon from Gujjar Nagar area for possessing fake Indian currency notes valuing Rs 15,000 and gold ornaments.
Police received source information that one Abdul Hamid, son of Ghulam Mohd, resident of Gool, Ramban, roaming in Jammu City in Ascent Car (CH03D-9326), is involved in fake currency business and presently he was in possession of fake Indian currency notes.
Acting swiftly, a police team, led by SI Shamim IC/PP Gujjar Nagar intercepted the car near Gujjar Nagar and during Hamid’s personal search, fake Indian currency notes valuing Rs 15,000 in 500 denominations were recovered from him. On his interrogation, it was revealed that Hamid is presently on bail in a case related to drug peddling.
During search of car, gold ornaments including a necklace, two bangles, one ring, a pair of ear-rings besides Rs 2,400 Indian currency and two mobile phones were recovered.
FIR 59/16 under sections 489-B/489-C has been registered at Peer Mitha Police Station.
According to police, Hamid is already facing charges under NDPS Act at Gool and Chanderkote Police Station. Last month, he was released on bail in a case wherein he was nabbed with a consignment of heroin.
Police is collecting details of FIRs against him.
“We will recommend his detention under PSA,” police said.
Heroin, Rs 6 lakh cash recovered; terror links suspected
JAMMU: Unearthing a terror module, the Jammu police on Monday recovered huge consignment of narcotics from near Narwal Mandi area.
Sources informed that the contraband weighing more than 10 kg valuing Rs 10 crore in international market besides Rs 6 lakh cash has been recovered.
A youth, whose identity has been with held, was shifted to the interrogation centre.
Police is working on various angles of the case which include smuggling of narcotics being carried out to raise funds for terror activities.
