Nagar Kirtan taken out with religious fervour at Poonch

POONCH: A Vishal Nagar Kirtan was taken out in the border town of Poonch on Thursday ahead of the Parkash Utsav of first Sikh Guru, Guru Nanak Dev Ji in which the people of all walks of life participated.
Thousands of devotees drawn from extreme border villages including Dara Dullian, Jhallas, Kanuiyan, Deghwar, Malti and Nagali besides those from the proper city joined the Nagar Kirtan and took the blessings of the Holy Guru Granth Sahib kept in a specially superstructured and decorated vehicle with 108 Shriman Mahant Manjeet Singh Ji in attendance. The Panj Piyaras traditionally attired led the vehicle of Holy Guru.
The Nagar Kirtan started from Gurdwara Singh Sabha Poonch in the afternoon and passed through Quila Bazaar, Bus Stand and reached College Ground. Number of welcome gates were erected and stalls of tea, coffee, fruits and other eatables established for the devotees. The Sikh youths displayed the martial art Gatka. Raagi Jathas of Harpal Singh, Daljeet Singh, Bhopinder Singh and Surjan Singh recited Gurbani Kirtan.
Mahant Manjeet Singh Ji in his address threw light on the life history of Guru Nanak Dev Ji and his contributions for people world over. Mahant Sahib Ji said that the Guru has given message to the people to love God, love humanity and do good to others. He advised the parents to provide good education to their children and stop them getting strayed and becoming victim of drugs and other evils adding that they should be taught to strictly follow the teachings of Gurus. The Nagar Kirtan finally culminated in the Gurdwara Singh Sabha Poonch after passing through Nakhan Wali Road and Parade Ground.
Prominent among those present in the Nagar Kirtan include DC Mohd Azgar, SSP Rajiv Pandey, Dy SP Headquarters Shahin Naem, SHO Ajay Jamwal, Advoacte Rajinder Singh, DGPC President Prof Narinder Singh, Gen Secy Rajinder Singh, All India Sikh Student Federation District President Paramjit Singh, President Ram Dass Sewa Society Anmol Singh and President Gatka party Manmohan Singh.
