Naeem moves motion on Governor’s address in LC

SRINAGAR: The Minister of Education and Leader of Upper House Naeem Akhtar today moved Motion of Thanks on Governor’s address in Legislative Council, which was seconded by legislators Firdous Ahmad Tak, and Yasir Reshi.
Speaking in favour of the motion, the Member of Legislative Council Firdous Ahmad Tak said that government should use dialogue, reconciliation, and development to build a lasting peace in the region. He added government through its various schemes should channelize the energies of youth to build a great nation.
Tak also stressed upon improvement of health sector in rural areas. The Minister said that maternity units should be established in every far away government health centers to reduce the maternal mortality rate.
Referring to the benefits of welfare scheme, Tak said that Laddli Beti scheme is well received by the beneficiaries.
Dr. B A Veeri appreciating the late Mufi Mohammad Sayed for his visionary thinking said that the former CM believed that the House is a powerful institute in the country where various issues related to common man are discussed. Besides, the MLC also demanded well defined policies for education and health sectors.
Speaking during the session the G N Moonga raised the issue of relief and rehabilitation of flood victims, and said there are still many who are waiting for their rehabilitation. He also demanded for the strengthening of Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs), and municipalities to ensure empowering of people at grass root level. Speaking in favour of the motion, Ramesh Arora appreciated the role of police and security forces. He stressed for meaningful debates on various public importance issues in a constitutional manner. Arora demanded to develop Chamliyal and Suchetgarh as tourist destination on the pattern of Wagah, which would boost cross LOC (line of control) trade and develop the border tourism.
