MV International School hosts discussion on press freedom

SAMBA: On the occasion of World Press Freedom Day, MV International School organized panel discussion, here on Saturday. Dr. Balram Saini, State Bureau Chief Punjab Kesari, Sumit Sharma, Bureau Crime Head Early Times, Sidharth Dogra, Jammu Links News and Upinder, Amar Ujala were present as the panelists for the event. The programme was organised to acknowledge the work done be the various sectors of media viz print, social and electronic.
Chairman MVIS, Hira Lal Abrol along with the members of the management welcomed the guests.
The programme began with lighting of the traditional lamp followed by a presentation which showcased the history and evolution of Journalism in India.
A ‘Laghu Natika’ was also presented by the students to show the value and importance of media in a unique way.
During the panel discussion, the inquisitive students posed many questions on the various difficulties faced by the media people, the role of media in raising social consciousness, career option in the field of Journalism, threats and glamour associated with this career, working mechanism of media houses etc.
Hira Lal Abrol expressed gratitude to the guests and panelist for their presence.
Earlier, the Principal, K.L Dogra welcomed the guests and saluted the media for their efforts. He quoted that it is a great sacrifice of personal life for the cause of nation building. The Director of the School, Gourav Abrol concluded the program by saying that, we live in world that is firehouse of information, which is delivered by media to the corners of the world. Media’s the most powerful entity on earth, they have the power to influence the masses.
