Mumbai experienced, enjoyed paradise of Kashmiri culture, food and art at ‘Pumbuch’

JAMMU: Mumbai recently witnessed the grand celebration of Kashmiri culture, food, and art at the first-ever ‘Pumbuch’ festival, a unique cultural event that marked the return of Kashmiri heritage to the city after more than three decades.
Held from November 22 to 24, 2024 at Infiniti Mall, Malad, this festival provided Mumbaikars with an immersive experience into the rich traditions and beauty of Kashmir.
The ‘Pumbuch’ Festival, organized by Superna Sapru, showcased the vibrant Kashmiri culture through live music, dance, traditional crafts, art, and cuisine.
Visitors had the chance to witness authentic Kashmiri handicrafts being made live, while also indulging in delicious Kashmiri food and savoring the region’s unique flavours.
The event was a melting pot of traditional performances and demonstrations, offering a truly enriching experience of Kashmir’s artistic heritage.
The festival also saw the participation of renowned celebrities and cultural artists, adding to the star power of the event.
Famous actors like Deepak Parashar, Sandeepa Dhar, Priti Sapru, Lalit Parimo, and Ashwath Bhat graced the occasion.
Additionally, musical performances by celebrated Kashmiri singers like Dilip Langoo, known for his fusion of traditional folk songs, Sufi singer Noor Mohammad, and rising stars Rahul Wanchoo and Harshita Pandita, mesmerized the audience with their soulful renditions.
The performances truly captured the essence of Kashmiri music and brought it to life for the Mumbai crowd.
Adding to the cultural extravaganza, traditional Kashmiri dancers performed stunning routines in colorful, intricately designed outfits, leaving the audience spellbound.
The combination of music, dance, and craftsmanship was a visual treat, and the festival attracted thousands of visitors, all eager to experience the grandeur of Kashmiri culture.
Superna Sapru, the Director of the event, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the Directorate of Handicrafts and the Directorate of Tourism from the Jammu & Kashmir Government, artisans, and the Kashmiri Pandit Association Mumbai for their unwavering support in making the event a grand success.
Looking ahead, ‘Pumbuch’ is set to expand beyond Mumbai. Superna Sapru announced plans to take the festival to Delhi/NCR and other global locations, with the goal of spreading the unique beauty and traditions of Kashmir – from its artisans and artists to its food, fashion, architecture, and more. The festival promises to be a key platform for showcasing Kashmir’s cultural richness to the world.
