JAMMU: Mujtaba Yousuf claimed 5 for 51 in a seam and swing masterclass to put J&K back into the game against Baroda after J&K conceded 119 runs first innings lead to their rivals at Jammu University Ground, here on Tuesday.
Earlier, resuming from an overnight score of 197/8, Baroda scored 244 runs in their first innings.
Nitya J Pandya top scored with 78 runs off 163 balls studded with 9 boundaries, while Dhruv contributed 60 runs off 112 balls with 7 fours and one six. Skipper P Patidar and Malhar Grehvaria contributed 35 and 34 runs to the total respectively.
For J&K, left-arm spinner Vanshaj Sharma was the wrecker-in-chief, who took 5 wickets by conceding 65 runs in his 28 overs, while another left-arm spinner Vishal Kumar claimed 3 wickets by conceding 61 runs in his 22.2 overs and lect-arm medium pacer, Basit Bashir took 2 wickets by giving away 40 runs in 14 overs.
In reply, J&K bundled out for paltry 125 runs, thus conceding a first innings lead of 119 runs to Baroda. Yawer Hassan top scored with magnificent 57 runs off 116 balls, studded with 9 boundaries and one six, while Kawal Preet Singh and Vanshaj Sharma contributed 22 and 16 runs to the total respectively.
Ansh Patel took 3 wickets for Baroda, while Lakshit, Ashutosh Das and Utsavraj Chudasma bagged 2 wickets each.
Baroda were 130/6 in their second essay at stumps on day-3 today. Thus, Baroda has a lead of 249 runs with last day’s play left in the match. Dhruv Patel (10) and Ansh Patel (01) were at the crease. Opening batter Bhavishya Bhavesh Patel top scored with 80 runs off 73;balls, studded with 8 fours and 4 sixes.
Medium pacer, Mujtaba Yousuf was the wrecker-in-chief, who captured 5 wickets by conceding 51 in his 13 overs, while Vanshaj Sharma claimed one wicket.
