MSP in agriculture

0 90

Dear Editor,
Change in climatic conditions, unexpected rainfalls, drought or waterlogging have resulted in crop failures, affecting not only crop production but also soil quality.
What adds to the woes of farmers is the decrease in the prices of commodities, especially cotton, by more than 15 per cent even after a rise in input charges, including labour charges, thanks to the central scheme, MNREGA. Such factors are equally responsible for farmers’ suicides. The government must take steps to ensure that farmers do not lose interest in agriculture. Better MSPs for grains and insurance policies on agriculture could help save our nation.
