JAMMU: Month-long coaching camp in Sport Climbing, organised by Mountaineering Association of J and K and sponsored by Sprawling Buds School, Chinore, here, concluded on Monday with an open competition amongst the trainees at Tenzing Norgay Sport Climbing Wall in the school complex, here.

The competition was organised in only two categories of boys and girls wherein all the participants were eligible to compete irrespective of their age.

Two leading climbers of the State, Mrityunjay Sharma and Shivani Charak in boys and girls category respectively stole the limelight by defeating climbers of the senior categories and bagged the top honours.

Arun Deep Singh, a talented climber in the sub junior category, also created an upset by clinching the second position against more experienced senior climbers. The third place was secured by Aman Dogra.

However, barring the first position, the results for the second and third places in the girls category were on expected lines with Muskan Abrol and Ambreen Fatima winning the silver and bronze medals.

The competition was organised under the over all supervision of Anil Kumar, a national belayer and coach of the J and K team. Manik Slathia, a trained mountaineer, Aman Arora, a trained belayer and Puneet Sharma, a senior sport climber were the route setters and belayers of the competition.

National judge in sport climbing and secretary, Indian Mountaineering Foundation, North Zone Committee, Ram Khajuria, a remained present throughout the competition and keenly watched the performance of all the competitors. Later, he also honoured the winners with medals.
