Modi’s vision & programmes marked historic change in mindset towards girl-power in India: Darakhshan

JAMMU: Chairperson J&K Waqf Board, Dr Darakhshan Andrabi on Tuesday attended the function of Jammu University held in connection with National Girl Child Day as the Chief Guest.
The function was graced by the Vice Chancellor of Jammu University Umesh Rai who presided over the function, while the head of the Home Science Department of the University Prof Samridhi Arora, Dr Ranjit Kalra and other faculty members Prof Neeru Sharma, Prof Shashi Manhas & Prof Sarika Manhas also participated in the deliberations.
In her address Dr Darakhshan Andrabi hailed the university for the initiatives to encourage girl power in different faculties and departments.
“Since 2014, Prime Minister Modi’s vision of women empowerment had transformed India. Beginning with Beti Bachao Beti Padao programme, the government took historic steps to not only empower women but also create an atmosphere in the country very conducive to the emergence of girl power in all fields of life”, said Dr Andrabi.
She said that during this period male-female ratio in births had come to equal ratio throughout the country.
Dr Andrabi said many welfare schemes and laws have been adopted which have helped the girl- power to become equal force in the growth story of India.
“In J&K, for the first time, the present government has adopted all women related central schemes and also initiated many programmes at the UT level too. Minority women have got special initiatives from Modi led government in India”, said Andrabi.
In his address the Vice Chancellor said that the University is committed to ensure women friendly environment within the Campuses.
He hailed the girl power of the university for making the institution a proud place for teaching and research. Prof Samridhi Arora thanked Dr Andrabi and the Vice Chancellor for their encouragement.
