Model Academy celebrates English Language Week

JAMMU: Model Academy, the prestigious school of MIER, in its ongoing effort to sharpen the English Language skills among the students organised an English Language Week at both its branches with the theme, ‘Sharpening Language Skills for Global Citizenship’, which concluded on Friday.
The week was packed with an array of activities that provided a platform to the students to showcase their skills through various ingenious activities using English as medium of expression.
Special assemblies on famous writers, poets and literary personalities were organised. The students of Primary and Middle wing took part in Spell-Bee contests, Word Scrabble and Spot the mistakes competition. The students of Senior Secondary Wing presented one act short play, “Seven Ages” written by William Shakespeare. They enacted and portrayed the seven stages in the life of human beings. An English song, ‘Que Sera Sera’ sung by choir group of the school mesmerised everyone.
Dr. Adit Gupta Joint Director MIER along with Rupa Gupta, Management Representative, Usha Gadoo, officiating Principal and Ruchi Sharma, Quality Assurance Officer attended the programme on the concluding day.
Dr. Adit Gupta reminded the children about the importance of developing English language skills. He further stressed that English as a language should be developed at every stage and that it was paramount to converse in English on a daily basis to be fluent in the language.
Later in the day final round of the Spell Bee Competition was held for the students of classes I- III. Winners of various competitions were awarded with certificates of honour. The programme was coordinated by Manjari Sehgal, Jasleen Mohial, Academic Managers, Manju Vali, Convener Co-curricular committee along with English subject teachers Samy Bajaal and Apurva.
