JAMMU: A 15-member delegation led by Rajeev Jasrotia, MLA Kathua, called on Governor, N.N. Vohra here on Wednesday and submitted a memorandum to him.
The major demands raised by the delegation relate to additional fund requirements for Municipal Council Kathua, and Municipal Committee Nagri Parole, and allocations for improving power supply, water supply and roads in Kathua. The delegation demanded full ration quota even as per 2001 Census, and smooth functioning of health, agriculture and education sectors in Kathua constituency.
The delegation also raised issues relating to execution of the Ujh Multi purpose Power Project, extension of balance portion of the Main Ravi Canal from Basantpur upstream of the Ranjit Sagar Dam in district Kathua, and for the establishment of a Railway Station in Kathua city.
The Governor informed the delegation that their needs and demands shall be looked into and urged Jasrotia to work relentlessly for the development of his constituency.
MLA Kangan, Mian Altaf Ahmad met the Governor and apprised him about various problems which are impeding the implementation of certain development projects in his constituency.
They also discussed the severe problems which would arise if there is inadequate rain and snowfall in the coming two months.
MLA, Amirakadal, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukharia also called on the Governor and apprised him about the various post-flood problems being faced by the people of his Constituency. He also brought to the Governor’s notice a number of problems which are thwarting the pace of development in the State.
The Governor urged the Member Legislative Assembly to take sustained interest in developing his Constituency.
Meanwhile, a three-member delegation of Tour Operators from J and K led by Rauf Tramboo, President, Adventure Tour Operators Association of Kashmir (ATOAK) called on Governor.
The other members of the delegation were Khaliq Wangoo, Chapter Chairman, Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) and Nasir Shah, Director Culture and Nature Expeditions (CNE).
Tramboo apprised the Governor about the slowdown in the number of tourist arrivals in the State, particularly in the Kashmir Valley, after the floods in September 2014. In this context he emphasized the need for the State Tourism Department to take all possible initiatives to create the required environment for attracting a large number of tourists in the summer 2015.
Tramboo apprised the Governor about the ongoing activities of the TAAK for promoting tourism in J and K and also shared his views about bringing new destinations on the tourist map of the State.
