MLA distributes 77 LGP connections under Ujjwala Yojna

DODA: Member Legis-lative Assembly-Doda constituency, Shakti Raj Parihar on Friday distributed LPG connections under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) in remote Dali-Udhyanpur and Kulhand Panchayats of mountainous district Doda.
A large number of people hailing from Dali-Udhyanpur, Kulhand and its adjoining areas have participated in the function. During the occasion, MLA Doda, Shakti Raj Parihar launching the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) in the village and distributed 77 free LPG connections to Below Poverty Line households.
He said that the move will benefit thousands households living below the poverty line in Doda constituency under PMUY scheme which is the dream project of Prime Minister Narinder Modi in the country to keep remote villages smoke free.
He said in rural areas smoke from fire wood, coal, dung cakes etc adversely affect the health of women and smoke inhaled by women is equivalent to 400 cigarettes per hour. He said that such measure will empower women and protect their health by reducing the labour and time spent on cooking.
Later MLA-Doda Shakti Raj Parihar convened a public meeting in Gadhi area of district Doda on Thursday.
A large number of people hailing from Gadhi, Bejarni and its adjoining areas have participated in the meeting and raised their demands related to power, water supply, education, medical facilities and road connectivity.
