JAMMU: Citizen’s Forum has requested Chief Justice of J&K High Court and LG Manoj Sinha for making necessary arrangement for hearing of cases in High Court and other subordinate courts, as litigants are suffering a lot.
In a press statement issued on Thursday, R K Chadha, President Citizen’s Forum said that litigants are suffering for last one year, first because of lawyers’ strikes due to one issue or another and then due to outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic. “Poor litigants are suffering because disposal of cases, which were in final stages of hearing, is hanging in vacuum. Earlier, more than 300 numbers were listed in a day but now only 20 to 30. I would like to request the court authorities for allowing physical case hearings, with only one person at a time in the court room,” he added. Young lawyers are also suffering as they are unable to learn from company of their senior advocates besides facing acute financial constraints, Chadha asserted. Citizen’s Forum further requested LG Manoj Sinha to provide a loan of Rs 50,000 to young lawyers enabling them to construct their own chambers and meet their day to day expenditure.
