JAMMU: Taking serious note of misuse of government funds, allegedly by some officials of Rural Development Department at Block Marmat, Tehsil and District Doda, the State Vigilance Commission on Friday summoned Additional Deputy Commissioner, Doda to submit the status report after holding a preliminary inquiry.
In a complaint with specific allegations leveled by one Ramesh Kumar, resident of Paryote (Doda), regarding drawl of huge payments from Government Exchequer from time to time against non-existing and fictitious works, fraudulently and dishonestly shown on official documents, during the financial year, 2011-2012, in Panchayat Halqa Paryot-B, Block Marmat, by a Village Level Worker (VLW), tantamount to misuse of official position and enormous loss to State Exchequer by the said public servant, the State Vigilance Commission directed Additional Deputy Commissioner, Doda (DVO), for an on spot enquiry and submission of status report thereof before the Commission.
Despite, several notices issued to the Deputy Commissioner, Doda, as well as Additional Depth Commissioner, Doda, for submission of status report in the matter, they didn’t bother to hold an enquiry nor submitted the requisite report thereof before the Commission. Instead, they sought adjournments and exemptions from appearance without justifiable reasons, which prima-facie exhibits non-serious approach of said officers, amounting to deliberate shielding of corrupt elements working in their jurisdiction.
The State Vigilance Commission while taking serious note of the issue and dishonouring of orders passed by the Commission, directed the Deputy Commissioner, Doda, to ensure presence of Additional Deputy Commissioner, Doda (DVO), before the Commission on Feb 19, 2016 along with the requisite report including reply to a show cause notice already issued to him by the Commission.
