Missing domestic help: Family seeks action against CJM

JAMMU: Family members and relatives of missing domestic help on Wednesday staged a protest in front of the Labour Commissioner’s Office seeking action against Chief Judicial Magistrate, Rajouri for violating Child Labour Act.
Around two hundreds residents of Sidhra area while raising slogans against Labour Commissioner accused him of protecting the CJM.
It is pertinent to mention here that on the revelation of facts by the Chairman of NGO Voice for Rights Deepika Singh regarding missing child being employed as domestic help by CJM, Rajouri, Mehmood Rehman Choudhary in violation of Child Labour Act, 1986, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed.
The protesters raged over the issue said that it is unfortunate that the Magistrate who has been appointed to protect laws and deliver justice employed a 12 years old child as domestic help knowing that it is offence under law.
Irked over inaction, they demanded stringent action against delinquent employer and also demanded to trace the missing child Rafiq Ahmed.
Earlier, father of the child, Farooq Ahmed has expressed apprehension of his son’s killing by the CJM and his men. “Judge deceived us by employing our minor child as servant at his residence.
He promised that he will put our child in school and raise him as a good person.
He also promised that on attaining majority, he will use his contacts to provide employment to the child”, the father stated.
