Mir anguished over regular incidents of killings, harassment

JAMMU: Expressing serious concern and anguish over the use of brutal force by Security Forces in Momin Abad (Dooru) yesterday, JKPCC Chief G.A. Mir strongly condemned the action by forces in which innocent people were beaten to pulp, besides causing heavy damages to property without any provocation.
He said such type of action vitiate the atmosphere and prevalence of peace becomes difficult almost impossible. He said what the security forces have done in Momin Abad is unacceptable, and highly condemnable. This is not the only incident in which security forces have crossed the limits, before this incident, there were reports of unnecessary harassment and beating of common people. He said Government should wake up and take stringent measure to contain such type of unruly incidents.
Mir also expressed anguish over the killing of a boy in Ladoora Rafiabad on Wednesday due to firing by Army. He strongly condemned this incident.
Terming the killing of a young boy as most unfortunate, PCC Chief urged the forces to exercise restraint.
Emphasizing that every responsible member of the society must come forward to help restore peace, PCC Chief appealed the people especially youth to maintain calm and stop confronting security forces.
Mir also condemned the illegal confinement of President EJAC Abdul Qayoom Wani and asked the Government to release him. He said lodging people in jails merely on pretext of holding peaceful protests is unfortunate.
