Minor crushed to death, family lodges protest

JAMMU: A minor was crushed to death by a speedily driven tipper in city outskirts, leading to protests here.
A boy identified as Dimple, 11, son of late Raju Kumar, resident of Bazigar Basti, Purkhoo was this morning crushed to death by a tipper bearing registration number JK02AU-5047 near Lower Purkhoo in Kanhachak area here. The tipper driver sped away from the spot after the mishap. Critically injured minor was rushed to the hospital but he died on the way, police said.
The people and family members of the minor held strong protest and
blocked Jammu-Rajouri-Poonch Highway for about one hour.
Reports said that the mishap took place near Bazigar Basti when the minor boy was returning from the school on cycle. A speeding tipper hit him from behind resulting into his death.
The people of the area assembled there in large number and started protest demonstration on the road. They stopped the movement of vehicles on this busy highway. They demanded immediate arrest of the accused driver.
Kanachak Police reached the venue and pacified the protesters assuring them that the culprit will be put behind the bar at the earliest. Police also seized the tipper and registered case against the accused person.
