MIER organises Kalakriti musical evening

JAMMU: The premises of Model Institute of Education and Research (MIER) reverberated with a musical evening under the banner of ‘Kalakriti’ the annual activity for promotion of culture and arts at the H.L. Gupta Auditorium.
The Chief Guest on the occasion was Dr. Arun K Gupta, Chairman MIER while Dr. Renu Gupta, Director MIER was the Guest of Honour. The programme was also attended by Dr. Arvinder Amn, Additional Secretary, Cultural Academy, Raman Joshi, Cultural Officer Information Department, Dr. Rajiv Verma, Deputy Manager Fortis Escort Hospital Amritsar and Vijay Lakshmi Bali, teacher,
Bharti Vidya Mandir High School Amphalla and the faculty of MIER Group of Institutions.
The programme started with lighting of the ceremonial lamp followed by an evening raag which was sung by Suneel Kumar, Simran Jaswal, a modelite mesmerized the audience by singing Farida Khanum Ghazal.
Pinna and Amritpal took the audience on a tour of Kashmir and Punjab by presenting melodious numbers. Vidhi Jaswal of Indian Idol fame sang a Punjabi song. Stanzin presented a classical Raag Thumri. Asif Khan an ex- modelite sang a bollywood number whereas Dogri culture was depicted by Amarjot Kour, Cultural Coordinator.
The icing on the cake was the lively Jugalbandi by Rakesh Anand, a renowned Flute player, Khem Kumar on octopod along with Jasrotia on synthesizer.
Dr. Arun Gupta felicitated all the artists for their excellent performance and thanked them for using the stage provided by Kalakriti to showcase their talent to the audience. The programme was compered by Gurmeet and Navleen, teachers of the school wing.
