MIER College of Education holds extension lecture

JAMMU: Carrying forward its tradition of conducting guest lectures by eminent educationists, MIER College of Education invited a seasoned educationist and scholar, Prof. Gurucharan Singh Bhalla, from Bronx University, New York, USA to deliver a lecture on the theme ‘Comparison between American and Indian Schools with reference to Training of Teachers’.
Dr. Arun K. Gupta, Chairman MIER Group of Institutions, Dr. Renu Gupta, Director MIER and other faculty members besides students of MIER College of Education attended the lecture.
Welcoming the distinguished speaker, Komal Sharma, Assistant Professor, highlighted the achievements of Prof. Bhalla who happens to be a veteran teacher, teaching mathematics for 55 years and conducting workshops at various schools and colleges in India.
Bhalla interacted with teacher trainees and acquainted them with the system of school education prevalent in America especially the public schools. He traced the beginning of public schools in India and the present system of public schooling. Later, the queries posed by the audience were effectively answered.
Dr. Arun K.Gupta appreciated the manner in which insight into the American system of schooling was provided by the eminent speaker. He pointed out that each country has to face unique challenges which it has to overcome.
